Volunteering

it's a multi-tasking day. And cant I skip my breakfast, lunch and supper! I have only had a cup of Starbucks in the after noon then ordered a set of Macdonal's fast food. Then I finally had a egg shelled shrimp set dinner late at night!

Today I went to the recruitment talk of the Ogilvy and Mather, the top-notch brand building agency worldwide. The company, which was founded by Mr. David Ogilvy, had become the dream place to work in for many people in communication industry, I'm one of them too. While I may not make it to enter it because I'm not really an innovative and outgoing person that they want. I'll still at least have a try. Hey, but I want to say the staff they sent here to give the talk today were so boring and didn't get well prepared, that's really disappointing as they regard themselves as an excellent brand building corporation. How they did today didn't show much sincerity. That's kind of frustrating.

Then I went on to my next task for today: my first interview in Hong Kong. I'm not really good at interview, but it's the curdle that I really have to get over with. FYI, the company that did the interview is an tutorial school and they are looking for a receptionist and a course selling person. I don't really want to do the job and enter this industry either. What I want is to step into the communication industry, like an agency, it doesn't matter which position I suppose to be in. With several years' experience in the agency I would gain much more opportunity in my career developing path. PR, is actually all about experience. As a PR practitioner, you are nothing if you don't have any of working experience. All in all, I just participate in the interview to get to know more about the company in Hong Kong and their interview pattern. It turns out to be the same in Mainland actually, first introduce yourself in English then ask you question about you working experience and describe the job for you in Cantonese.

Well at 7pm I had a class for a foreigner. I joined the volunteering but this is the first time to really take it into action to actually arrange a Cantonese class with him. Tom is a British and he can speak very few Cantonese, but that's not easy for a foreigner to learn Chinese, especially when they can't read any words they could just remember the pronunciation. He is an English teacher for a kindergarten and has British accent, he can also imitates other accents like the sexist London accent? Lol. That's very kind of him trying to repay me by teaching me English. I think in this way we can both learn a lot from each other, with a premise that he won't think I'm a bad teacher... I always think my speaking English is awful and I told him that I seldom have the chance to practice. He laughed and said that was an intellectual way to say seldom, they just usually say rarely... Lol. And he really think my English is a little bit close to excellent, he really meant that. Wow, that means a lot to me. I was scared to take a class for a foreigner but now he gave me a lot confidence. I will try my best to help more people like him and find a better way to teach.
