Dad's anniversary

Today Mum, Maria, Damian and I made our way to Ampleforth in North Yorkshire on the 2nd anniversary since Dad died. Mum had asked for mass to be said in Dad's memory in the village church where they were married, however the church newsletter said that Tuesday morning mass was taking place at the village primary school. So off we trooped and joined the children and teachers from the little school for mass. It wasn't what we'd expected when we set off from Leeds this morning but it was a nice surprise and something Dad would have liked!

We then took some flowers to put on his grave and shared a dram of Bushmills whisky in his memory - again something Dad would have approved of.

I feel less sad than I did this time last year. I feel better able to remember him with happiness. I had a lovely day in the North Yorkshire sunshine with part of my family and know that the rest of the family will have been thinking of Dad too.
