Town centre flower trough ( detail )

I've said it before,we have an excellent parks department.
Every year they put up dozens of flower troughs all round town, many of them on railings that divide dual carriageways. The flowers and foliage are well tended, and have helped towards several " Britain in bloom " awards.
One year the council decided it couldn't afford the expense. The troughs were still there, but filled with colourful plastic flowers that schoolchildren had made from recycled washing-up liquid bottles and so on. It looked rather bizarre, to put it politely.
Anyway, the plants are here for another year, and very good they are too.
Just look at the colour of that sky !
