Alvingham Watermill

Well two days at work and it seems like I never had a holiday. Full inbox on my emails and basically I haven't stopped.

Had to collect the keys for my mobile project from the driver. He was working in Alvingham so I took the opportunity to spend a little while in that beautiful village with my camera. Alvingham has two churches in the same churchyard, one dedicated to St. Mary, the other the only church in England to be dedicated to St. Adelwold. Although this is not unique it is quite unusual. Both churches are also built on the side of a 12th century priory. Unfortunately both were locked and although they did display a sign stating where the keys could be borrowed from, I decided that today would not be a great day for viewing the inside again as I only had my 300mm lens!

I strolled through the churchyard and got some nice shots of goldfinches, chaffinches, robins, blackbirds and a thrush. At the bottom of the cemetery a footpath leads you to the old Alvingham part of Louth Navigation . Mental note to self to revisit in the summer of do part of the walk.

On leaving the churchyards, I crossed back over the working farmyard and was greated with the picture that is my blip for today. It is so quintessential of the English countryside, I just couldn't resist it.
