The Living Desert

We took Jake to the Living Desert today because the weather was too cool for swimming. All the animals are in very natural habitats so sometimes it's hard to spot them, but this giraffe was not hard to see against the backdrop of the surrounding hills. The most impressive exhibit was the Australian Birds. They are flying free in an enclosure and they landed all over our bodies. Jake was not bothered by them, but his mom and I were scared to death! A couple of them tried to eat my earring! Today I am grateful that even though we had hundreds of birds flying around us and on us we did not get pooped on once!!
