"We just wear what we like, we're not slave to the chain high street shops and their seasons.”
There are both good days and bad days in street portrait photography. Today was a particularly excellent day in that the warm weather brought so many people out into the city and there was a nice vibe in the air. I asked a handful of people for portraits, but I’ve decided to post Gian and Steph here as they were dressed so uniquely, had the courage to be photographed in the street, and it was really nice to chat to them both.
The first topic of conversation was of course, Alfonso Ribeiro, better recognised as Carlton Banks from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Steph is a huge fan, and her shirt did make me laugh a lot. I asked her to do the infamous Carlton Banks dance (always done to Tom Jones’ ‘It’s not unusual’), but I think that was going a little too far for her and we just did the hands and left it at that.
I applauded the pair for wearing what they like, and not being afraid of public scrutiny. Steph mentioned her pet hate of the chain high street shops and the people who only wear clothes from there, mentioning no names - *cough* shop.
To finish, it would be rude not to :)
