Mother's Day xxx

Have had a truly wonderful day today from start to finish. My 2nd ever Mother's Day.....

I got Eva up, washed and dressed then brought her into our room for her morning cuddles and milk with me. Our mornings in bed are just so lovely. Eva still makes her little facial expressions of euphoria when she's drinking her milk and she'll do little comfort things like stroke my hand and arm, hold onto or pat my clothes or my face and bounce her little bottom up and down contentedly. She'll then occasionally sit up, look across me at her teddies sat on my bedside drawers, smile, point and then lie back down to drink more milk. Oh, how I love and adore my baby girl.

Eva had her breakfast, then Mike went and fetched him and I McDonalds breakfast. It was yummy.

Mike then gave me my cards and prezzys to open. I was totally bowled over by Mike's thoughtfulness today (and Eva's, of course). I'd already had my beautiful, ribbon tied daffodils and footprint impression from Eva that she did at nursery, but I could now open my card that she'd made there. It was a handprint that made the yellow flower of a daffodil with a green painted stem and inside it says "my love for you grows and grows". I also got 3 more cards... One from Moonpig with a gorgeous photo on the front of me and Eva, one where Eva has drawn inside with red crayon and Mike has helped her write her name, and one off him, Jake and the cats... This last one was very poignant too and made me feel very appreciated and I was just really thankful about the thought that had gone into doing that. Although I'm not Jake's actual mom, Mike and I have been together since Jake was 2 and he's 13 this year and has always lived with us, so it was just really thoughtful that Mike did that. I also got a bag of some of my favourite sweets and a bottle of Bacardi and Mike tells me something else is coming that didn't arrive in time, talk about being spoilt! It was an emotional morning. Who would have thought that after everything that had happened and the journey that we'd been on, that I'd be sat there with my beautiful baby girl celebrating being an actual Mommy?!

I took Eva round to my Mom's then, whilst Mike went off to junior hockey training. It was lovely for us both to see my mom and Peter. Eva hadn't seen her grandad in a couple of weeks so was a little shy to start, but soon came around and was crawling everywhere and playing with the toys I'd taken for her to play with. Peter got a canvas bag and some Tupperware tubs out for Eva to play with too and she also liked sitting in front of the patio doors and looking at her reflection.

After Eva's sleep and lunch, we waited for my dad to arrive and decided on a spur of the moment trip to Arrow Valley as it was such a lovely day and seemed a shame to stay indoors. Eva's pushchair was still at Liza's from last weekend, so Mike carried her. We walked a little way round, then went over to the play area, where Eva had an absolutely wonderful time on the swings, the seesaw, the slide (with me holding her) and in Mike's lap on the roundabout, it was great fun. The swings were by far her favourite, as usual. Her little arms and legs were going and she was laughing and pulling such funny, excited faces. It's just fantastic seeing Eva having such great fun and letting out shouts of excitement.

Once back at home, Eva showed lots of signs of nearly standing herself up again, but didn't quite get there.

Eva had her dinner then ate some fruit whilst I tucked into my next treat of the day.. A steak and all the trimmings dinner cooked by Mike. How well have I been looked after today?

Had an absolutely wonderful happy day. Being a Mommy is the best thing in the world, by far xxxxxxxx
