Hairy

Androsace villosa var jacquemontii.

Intensely hairy, this little alpine may struggle outside in our wet winters however under cold glass it makes a perfect Alpine House plant. The rosettes of leaves, just over 1cm across, send up a head of pretty, dark pink flowers. The plant sends out new rosettes on strawberry-like runners, these root on contact with the soil or can be removed an rooted in a propagator .... guess how I obtained mine! You can see one of the new rosettes to the right of the flower head.
