My Badass Family
"We do what we wanna do, live how we wanna live,
Play how we wanna play, dance how we wanna dance,
Kick and then slap a friend,
My badass family."
Up at 0545 for another onsen (although Arthur and my father-in-law were already in there at 0515!) We left the hotel at 0815 and took a local bus to Tojimbo, a fascinating arrangement of rocks by the ocean. After returning to the hotel to collect our luggage we then took a couple of trains and a bus to Ichijodani. This was Kazuko's surprise for us all. We knew that we would be going to an open air museum with original ancient Japanese homes, but what she didn't tell us was that we would be dressed up as samurai and princesses as we walked around the museum. An incredible experience, and we all owe Kazuko a life debt for organising this treat for us.
We eventually returned home at 1930, too buzzing from all our fabulous memories to be really tired. I am so grateful for my Badass Family.
By the way, this hugely popular series of TV commercials for Soft Bank was filmed in Ichijodani. They are so popular that even Tommy Lee Jones has joined the team. Now we can enjoy our visit every time we see these commercials on TV. (For some reason the link always goes to the Tommy Lee Jones clip; the series is the eleven minutes clip two links to the left.)
