Mr.Bob the Farmer
This is Mr. Bob.
Today I was a chaperone with my first grader's field trip to an historical farm. It was the first really warm, humid day of the year and there was lots of walking to do.
Mr Bob was the real thing. The historical ranch is on a small corner of the enormous ranch still farmed today. Mr Bob was only too happy to share his love of the land and the kids had enormous fun feeding the chickens and the pigs.....and hearing his tale of Sid the Hen Snake who he saw wrapped around a tree trunk squeezing the eggs he had swallowed whole until they shattered inside him.
There were Texas longhorns and cowboys, and even a few alligators: although there were so many schools there we didn't really get the full historical experience, so I think we'll be going back before too long.
I had to chuckle to myself that the 'historical' side of things really wasn't that old.....and plates /furniture in the homesteads were what fills 'junk' shops in Europe....but in this "New World', I guess you can't be too fussy! Oh, and when I asked some of the kids what a wardrobe was, they just stared blankly at me....
Mr Bob has set me thinking of my new project.....I think 'men of experience' (got to be P.C.!) get missed out in front of the camera and their faces have so much to tell.....so that's it - my next project. And today I have the first 4 photos of the project in the bag!
