Perfectly Still

This is a statue of the late Mr. Frank Spinelli, holding playing cards in his left hand. To take this portrait required no posing instructions! A plaque in his remembrance states -

Occasionally in our lives, we meet a unique person who earns our respect and attention because of some inherent quality that we call "integrity". This person is recognized as someone who tells the truth, is fair in dealing with others, takes time to build friendship and goodwill, and tries in working with others to set goals of benefit to all. Mr. Frank Spinelli, Founder of Italian Centre Shop ltd., was such a person. He is remembered as a man with enormous devotion and generosity to his family, to the community and the wealth of our cultural diversity within Edmonton and the province of Alberta. 1926-2000.

Across the street from this Italian Centre Park is a shop called Zocalo. Zocalo is a colourful gift, flower, and plant gallery in Edmonton’s Little Italy. [You will] find creative florals, surprises to share, and fun home ideas in an artsy oasis.
[You can] linger over a latte, have fun shopping, and reinvigorate your giving and living. There is a soup, sandwich and dessert bar, and certainly the finest Italian coffee.

I met my sister-in-law and husband here and we enjoyed our lunch, surrounded by fresh plants and flowers, the sun streaming in through large greenhouse-like windows. Very pleasant indeed.
