You Do Have To Thank The Japanese
The builders and developers who started the development of commuter estates 60 years ago planted Japanese Cherry Trees (Prunus Serrulata) around their new estates.
At this time of the year they come into their own; vast canopies of pink or white on almost every estate road. Some have already lost their blossom others (like the one above) are just into full bloom. Within a few days the ground beneath will become a white carpet. The wind and rain will then remove all trace.
