Last Year's Flower
Jim doesn't cut back his plants in the fall. This long winter I was thankful to look out my winter and see the brown, hopeful skeletons of summer's flowers. Small mammals used them for cover and now spring's birds are using them for seed and nesting supplies. This one is last year's Black Eyed Susan.
