Free Book Season

The group I volunteer with, Books Through Bars, has a huge increase in donated books every year during Spring. A load came in from the estate of someone whose reading days or over, but with a high percentage of titles that we cannot use, or sell, or that we have too many of, so out on the street they went, free to the passers-by.

I'm a sucker for free books, so I filled up the milk crate on my bicycle with specialized dictionaries, classic novels and plays, historical tomes, and volumes 1-3 of Granville Barker's Prefaces To Shakespeare.

It was such a beautiful day, too!
