War on the Lake
We went for a run to the East Coast Moray this afternoon. On our way home we called in at Brodie Castle and its grounds. Whilst walking from the castle to the lake, there was this awful commotion in the lake. Two Seagulls were fighting in the middle of the lake and dragging each other under the water, then all of a sudden this male Swan swooped out of the sky and made for the Gulls, neck and head extended and set into the gulls as he landed. The beak was open and he pecked them both> He showed who was master of the lake and they hurriedly departed the scene, rather chastised. It was as if he had said this is my lake and you don't fight here! He was probably warning them who was boss, for when the chicks arrive as Gulls can be killers and take the chicks!. It was an amazing scene!
