The Village Series 2 in production

What a difference a day makes it felt like another season and another time altogether.

After all that sun and warmth from the excitement of yesterday today was a bit of a let down. A return to Winter meant there was little chance that my optimistic prediction of seeing a Swallow today would happen; any Swallow with any sense would have stayed in warmer air.

A report of a very early Redstart and reports of Cuckoo both locally and in South Yorkshire meant we still set off with hope. One of the places to be when Spring really gets going is Hayfield and the walk past Kinder Bank Wood to the Reservoir via White Brow recommended for spotting such special birds. Today was cold a bit wet and no Swallow and only one Chiffchaff gave the slightest hint of Spring. The wood looked like Winter was still hanging on and the waves on the Reservoir sent cold air over the dam. Kinder Scout was lost in the clouds.

On the way through Hayfield we could see preparations in progress buildings being disguised and cars being removed on the way back home we almost got in on the action. The streets had been cleared the road markings covered and we drove back into the 1920s. waved through just before filming commenced on a scene for the 2nd series of the BBC Series The Village.

We did feel in the way but I managed this quick snap with the camera on my phone.
