Betsy bought this certificate home yesterday. She was thrilled to be short listed as she worked really hard on her story. They had a 5,000 word limit and she wrote 4,900. I read it and thought it was very good, it had a twist at the end and was very powerful, about a teenage boy who got involved in a gang.
Chris out this evening. The children and I had an early tea and then piled on the sofa and watched a load of old episodes of The IT Crowd.
Al asked me this morning if he could start walking to school on his own. We compromised with half way. It was a big step - for me! On the way home a friend asked me if Betsy would be interested in a job working with her twin 9 year old daughters, reading with them and helping them with comprehension and vocabulary. So in a day Betsy has a job and Al doesn't need me to take him to school any more. Big stuff.
I know it's making everyone choke and stuff but I think it's really cool that dust has blown here from the Sahara. We've got bits of the Sahara all over our car - wow!
