American Coot

A friend came over today to see this bird on a small loch just outside of Nairn. It is supposed to live in America as it's name implies. What it is doing here I don't really know. Not the best of shots as it was quite distant and the light was not great. I hope you can see some of the differences in the beak shape and colour from our native coot.
