Lanna Teak House

Traditional houses in Southeast Asia are usually built on stilts. This has two functions. First, domestic animals live underneath in the garden. Secondly, it gives better ventilation to the premises as well as protect it from other animals.
This old teakwood house was built in the middle of the 19th century in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. The former owner Khun (Mr.) Kamthieng donated it to the Siam Society of Bangkok. It is now a museum called the Kamthieng House Museum [link to the full story
