Hill Top Ramblings

Welcome home!

My husband and I met at Loch Garten. He was the seasonal Osprey Warden, and I was the camp cook for the summer. We were there to protect the Ospreys, who at that time were only just re-establishing in the Uk, and to manage the volunteer warden team for the summer.
It was a very romantic setting, a little camp in the Caledonian Pine Forest, with ospreys calling and displaying in the skies overhead. The rest is history.
Many years have passed, and ospreys are now moving south in search of more nest sites. This new platform has just been erected, courtesy of the electricity company who for some reason were disturbed to find an osprey nest on one of their pylons last summer, let's hope the birds cooperate and make the right choice.
It would be great for us too, to help bring these birds back to their old territory.
