from my lovely students who are battling with the finer points of writing AviSynth code for videomaking is the (remains of the) glass of Talisker which sustained a late session trying to deal with confusion over how to define the coordinates for a cropping command, relative, unusually, to the top left rather than Descartes' bottom right corner.
