Off to Belfast
Next Tuesday at 6:40am I'm flighting over to meet up with the Local Government Support Services (LGSS) team in our Belfast office for a five hour meeting to go through Oracle BAU support tasks require for the on call Duty Manager, the real reason I've been asked over is as a Thank you for taking all the help desk calls (About 5) on St Paddy's day as all the calls for the Irish Oracle DBA team came to my phone at the Business Park.
I didn't get many calls, but Paddy (Not his real name) gave me a script to read, basically 'Hello Oracle DBA support can I help you' which was usually followed by the caller 'your Not Irish', no I'm a Brummy, the best call was from HighLand council a very posh Scottish lady from finance, who wanted a SQL script running on her Oracle database after finally getting into the live server and running the script and sending her the output, she sent a email CC'ed to Paddy and said how happy she was with the excellent service she had.
Anyway Paddy called on Wednesday and invited me to the monthly support meeting and said we can have a pint or three of the black stuff at lunchtime next Tuesday, I put the phone down then realised after reading the meeting request that the location was in the Belfast office, I emailed my manager and she said no problem, so I booked up the flights with FlyBe, the blip is of the seat plan.
Looking forward to the breakfast on the plane and my three pints of black stuff at lunchtime.
