An Artist's Life

By MariB

At last....

First sight of the little mountain buttercups! Spring is here! They are drawing sap from the maples to make maple syrup, the robins are getting fat with eggs and the buttercups bloom. How sweet can it be...?
Took Si Bonz out for a long walk by the river and noticed new interpretive signs along the way explaining the Salish Indian life in the valley and the Lewis & Clark Expedition of 1804-06 and their meeting with the Salish, who guided them across "those terrible mountains"---Clark's description of the huge range of mountains that blocked their way to the Pacific. Without their Salish and Nez Perce guides, they would have perished in this range that looks so benign from my home.
