Night Blossom

Night blossom trembles,
Petals borne by the soft breeze,
Fall as confetti.


...... The cherry tree in the garden is in full bloom at the moment ... it's quite spectacular, but doesn't last very long. Coming home late last night I noticed that the flowers are still fully open at night .... which I suppose I always knew but it seems odd to go to al that effort to display your beauty when no-one can see. So I took a photograph (might be worth looking large).

Previously I had been out to see the film/documentary "20 feet from Stardom" about the incredible backing singers from so many great songs. It was a wonderful film about these very talented women. One of the things which was so striking was the mutual admiration, warmth and support they gave each other. Any one of them could have been diva's in the own right, but were either held back, or just in the wrong place, wrong time, or just preferred not to walk that path. One such is the incredible Lisa Fischer, who seems to be motivated purely by her joy in music and singing. A true soul singer.
