Seven-spot ladybird

Today's the day ......................... for a nursery rhyme

Ladybird, ladybird fly away home
Your house is on fire and your children are gone
All except one
And her name is Ann
And she hid under the baking pan

A strange sort of a verse. But then nursery rhymes often are - full of hidden meanings. There is a superstitious belief that you should chant the verse if a ladybird lands on you: if it then flies away again, your wish will come true.
