FALSE WIDOW (STEATODA NOBILIS)
Took my Dad to the dentist and then had a wander around Christchurch. Popped round to see my brother and his wife who live in Southbourne. We had a lovely walk along the beach (I had forgotten to take my camera!)
Back at Dad's we sat in the conservatory having a cup of tea and one of my nieces found this spider. The false widow spider is thought to have come from the Canaries or Madeira in a bunch of bananas in the 1870's. They are not aggressive but the female will bite if provoked and they are classed as a dangerous, biting, venomous spider.
