Fuel for the Surgaring Fire

These are lengths of logs cut, stacked, and ready to go into the furnace under the long sugaring pan that heats the maple tree sap and evaporates it into syrup. I thought this close up angle looks interesting, a bit like boxes of toffee. Actually, there are several long walls of this wood stacked and ready to fuel the evaporator.
This afternoon rain began that may last all weekend.
