Prickly pears

I love their shapes and the shadows they make, like the hands in children's drawings, even though I find the fruits a bit too sweet for my taste.

They root easily. We have several growing in the garden and in pots outside the house which were propagated just by putting a leaf in some potting compost. This one on a south-facing wall in the village seems to be very well established.
