Not margarine but 'Witches Butter' ....
Today I found no bird life outside the garden ... But did happen upon this fungi which incidentally would not gave seen if I hadn't decided to take a picture of some gorse/ whin.
I think this is Yellow Brain Fungus (Tremella mesenterica). It was growing on a hawthorn hedge. It is a very bright yellow fungi that normally grows on dead and decaying fallen branches of deciduous trees, especially oak, beech, and hazel. It develops folds, which do look a bit like the structure of a brain, which gives it its name. It is also sometimes referred to as Witch's Butter. It is most noticeable after wet weather.
Apparently the Chinese make a soup with it ?!?! ... I left it quietly manifesting itself where I found it. I had never seen fungus like thus before.
... Take care ... :)
