Buzzing!

Day one as an A&E doctor and I sutured up a pre-tibial laceration, held the resuscitation bleep and helped manage two resus calls! I dealt with lots of patients with broken bones in minors too. I also discovered my muscle memory works- I was asked to cannulate a patient when the ED nurse couldn't, I reassured the patient about the procedure (he was incredibly anxious) while thinking to myself I hope I can still do this, I haven't done this in 8 months.

The ED Registrar said that I looked like the "happiest person on the shop floor". Perhaps this was the novelty, perhaps I got special treatment because it was my first day. Whatever the explanation, I loved it!

After work I was the "mystery customer" at Tom's restaurant and got to do some colouring in with his manager's children (who were incredibly cute and lovely) while I waited for my food.
