Ornitogalum Balansae

These lovely little bloomers have no common name which doesn't help their popularity - ornitogalum balansae does not exactly roll off the tongue! I bought them as part of a miniature bulb collection from Garden Organic last autumn, but was very late planting them. The bulbs looked like small onions. I've read that Balansae is an excellent choice for tucking between taller plants, and they naturalize nicely with an increasing number of flowers each year. These are in a pot and each bloom is about an inch across. I'll need to locate a good well-drained site for them where they'll not be disturbed, and then they can do their stuff in years to come!
