I don't do as much of this as I used to. Deteriorating eyesight and a love affair with Yarn means that I spend more time with my knitting or crochet than with fabric and silks.

This is a piece I stitched many years ago before we moved to the village we live in now. This is a small village where everyone knows each other and they all seem to share a common ancestor. Within a few weeks of us moving here, the annual Produce Show was held. There were the usual competitions for mis-shapen vegetables, fruitiest fruit cakes, jammiest jam (you get the picture) and, wanting to get involved in village events, I decided to enter this piece in the Embroidery Class. And won First Prize, thereby putting the collective nose of the village matrons properly out of joint.

I entered the same competition on the following two years (with different pictures each time) and won First Prize again each time. The annual Produce Show hasn't been held since. I hope it was nothing to do with me.....
