Birdies

A friend of mine gave me this wonderful book on birds. It has lovely illustrations and the most fantastic descriptions. I love this one in particular:-

'They weigh roughly the same as a teaspoonful of sugar, a mouthful of air, or a funny idea'.

Brilliant.

Long-tailed tits are described as 'tiny clouds in tracksuits'.

A Brambling as 'a beautifully attired bird who could easily be mistaken for a Chaffinch wearing Arran knitwear and a Zorro mask'.

The robin as 'charming and cocky, with his shocking-red vest and a song like Sinatra's'.

There are too many brilliant descriptions to choose from but these sum it up very nicely.
