Remembering Jim on a historic date
Exactly a year ago, my bother Jim died. This photo is appropriate because his favourite colour was yellow - that bright, sunny, optimistic colour.
Besides April 6 being the anniversary of Jim's death, it is also the date of one of the most significant events in Scottish history, the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320. It is a quite extraordinary historical document, laying out the claims of Scottish Independence.
But for me, the 6 April is mainly a day to remember my brother and his bright, sunny, optimistic existence. Just like the daffodils in the photo.
