Heritage
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…..we really don’t appreciate what’s on our doorstep.
Today was a real eye opener and a brilliant, fascinating day, as I went to Brecon with good friends to the Brecon Beacons National Park Heritage Day. The park has been in existence since 1957 when it was made a National Park, and today was the first, of many hopefully, events celebrating the heritage within the park itself.
There were eight talks varying from Bronze Age settlements to lost watermills, lime quarries to museum and art, air crash sites to medieval castles. All the speakers were brilliant and I got so much from each talk. It’s certainly sparked more interest in the park, and walks over this summer now, weather permitting, will look to see and appreciate some of these sites.
An excellent day!
