Pica pica

The Eurasian Magpie.

When i was a kid growing up in the bush magpies were very different to the ones you get up here. Aussie magpies in breeding season are a thing to be feared. If you're in their area they're swooping and attacking you. So many times while out on my pushie i thought i was going to die, mashed under the wheels of some massive semi trailer while trying to evade some crazed magpie coming at you from a height.

Skjære (the norwegian name) are much smaller, intelligent and watchful birds which pose no threat whatsoever.

Very cool and quite beautiful little birds that are great fun to watch.
