Arilus cristatus
Remember my blip from before with the hideous bug?? Well, I found another one today much closer to home, and those of you who said you were afraid of it were half-right for being so. It's an immature nymph Wheel Bug (Arilus cristatus), which is a type of Assassin bug. That protrusion/beak thing on its head is a stinger that the bug uses to inject enzymes into its prey and suck out its juices. I don't think this particular one is very harmful, but they do grow wings and eventually molt and begin to look even scarier.
And they can be kept as pets!
