Section 2: Words invented by Shakespeare/ eyesore
The Taming of the Shrew, Act III, Scene II
BAPTISTA: Why, sir, you know this is your wedding-day:
First were we sad, fearing you would not come;
Now sadder, that you come so unprovided.
Fie, doff this habit, shame to your estate,
An eye-sore to our solemn festival!
Modern day version;
An eyesore is a building that is largely considered to look unpleasant or ugly. Its technical usage is as an alternative perspective to the notion of landmark.
Today's version;
The apartments under construction at our local Marina, I was walking with Milo along the boardwalk this morning, and thought "what an eyesore"
I must confess when they are finished I'm sure they will look just as fitting as the houses surrounding the Marina, with terrific views and terrific sunsets to see from the top floor balconies.
