A little respect, Cumbernauld
Sunday saw me, for a change, in Cumbernauld: two church services in the morning and a meeting in the afternoon. I've had my eyes on the 'decorations' on the roundabouts in the Craigmarloch and Balloch area for a while, and my return along the Eastfield Road on Sunday evening provided the opportunity to snap the image near to our joint-campus primary schools.
The thought of a denominational and a non-denominational school in the West of Scotland sharing a building would have been unthinkable not that long ago, but the joint-campus Cumbernauld Primary (relocated from Cumbernauld Village, much to many villagers' despair) and St Andrew's Primary Schools has been a great success by all accounts. Much of that is down to the willingness of staff in the schools and the support of the local clergy. The roundabout opposite the schools shows two children hand-in-hand and proclaims the words tolerance, friendship, co-operation and respect.
