Shoemaker's Land, 185 Canongate

Heraldic Panel of the Incorporation of Shoemakers.

According to the good people of RCAHMS this pedimented cartouche bears the Cordiners' emblem of a crowned shoemaker's rounding-knife flanked by cherubs' heads. The inscription below reads:

Behold how good a thing it is
And how becoming well
Together such as brethren are
In unity to dwell
