I was going to post this one, or ,possibly this, both taken, like the one above, at the Booterstown bird sanctuary. The jet trail was the first thing I snapped, and I didn't think it would work. But then, when it popped up in Lightroom, I thought it had something, in the arrangement of clouds and grass near the bottom, and especially its verticality: a whiff of summer.

Earlier I had met Liam Ó Muirthile for lunch in Monkstown. We got to know each other a bit on the trip to India last September. It was good to see him again, and we had a good chat, everything from poetry to drama to writing as béarla to swimming to Freud/Jung to 'zero-graze' cattle, ornery vets and the last shreds of ancient woodland in Ireland.
