Soft shield fern

Polystichum setiferum. A semi evergreen native fern. Much less common in the lane than Hart's Tongue and I needed help identifying it. Last year's leaves are still there but looking pretty tatty.

It is a popular plant with gardeners and I am pleased to discover a few good clumps in our garden.
