Appalachian anniversary

Emergency blip photo if ever there was one. 13 years ago today since I spent my first night in the woods on the route to Katahdin, Maine from Springer Mountain, Georgia. I cannot imagine what my poor parents were imagining that night - bears, snakes, hillbillies. I wonder if I'll ever be as generous as them when Robin wants to do something so outrageously daft.
