Segrada Familia .... craziness...

This is my view from the queue for the ladies loo ... and even that's amazing!

We took the hint of the queue patrollers, yesterday, who told us it was better to book on line. Even so, by the time we managed that at our hotel, all the places in the lifts had gone ... so no trip up the tower for us. But hey ... who cares ... we've decided to keep this for our return trip to Barcelona.

The outsides are mad ... the inside is AMAZING!! It even stopped our 15 year old in her tracks. The use of space, light, coloured glass and what looked like huge polished crystal ovoid medallions (or giant Fox's Glacier Mints), was just stunning.

The cranes overhead, the guys in hard hats scooting around the clerestory level and the constant noise of working machinery are all great reminders that things don't hapoen overnight. This amazing piece of architecture started in 1882 ... and is still 'a work in progress'. In two different places I read that it should be finished in 2026 and 2041! This is SO worth a visit despite the huge crowds ... stunning.....
