Facing the sun

Today I saw a bird singing in a tree, and thought that maybe I could catch it with my Canon camera. I opened the door ever so softly, but the bird still heard me, and flew away. However, as I now had my 150mm lens attached to my camera, I put on some shoes and went outside to search for something else to photograph. And found it in my neighbour's garden. But those few minutes I held my camera and concentrated purely on light, exposure and focus, I realised it has been far too long, since last time I went out on a photo shoot. So that's definitely something I need to do in the nearest future.
