Waiting for a train
As ever I find myself waiting for my train home at Central Station. Most other people are just doing the same.
But consider this, the station's roof contains an incredible 48,000 panes of glass and dates back to 1879.
It would once have been blackened by soot from steam trains and industrial pollution.
Thanks to a combination of the electrification of large parts of the of the Scotrail network and the cleaning of the roof we are now treated to a cathedral of light.
In fact the roof is being cleaned again so as to be sparkling in time to look it's best for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
So the moral of this blip is to look up and appreciate the wonders of victorian engineering.
