Hospital Days

A quick blip of The Infirmary on the way back from work.

The hospital was initially built to treat injuries sustained in the mill and was sufficiently well equipped to permit surgical operations. It was originally a two story building with nine beds, but as demand for its services grew, and treatment was also provided for the local community, the hospital was enlarged. Over 100 years of service were provided before it closed in 1979.
