The sun was shining when I wakened this morning – what a great feeling to be on holiday and have the sun shining. Just to celebrate, I varnished my nails red. I haven’t painted my nails red since I retired.
It’s a little early for lush scenery but there are willow catkins and pussy willows outside. After breakfast I settled myself on the fore-deck by 9.30 to enjoy the view and Cc joined me. A few minutes after we cast off there was a most unusual sight – a sunken boat – well half sunken or we wouldn't have known it was there. Never seen anything like that before. Pure blip!
I am keeping myself occupied as a usually do on the canals – by keeping my usual record of the numbers on the bridges we pass. Also, I’m continuing reading Robert Goddard’s book, Set in Stone.
Suddenly there was a terrible splash and Sue dashed back to check – apparently G had fallen into the canal – up to his neck!
Sue was having terrible problems with her computer and broadband and was quite frustrated so I went and had a lie down out of the way after lunch.
We passed a few houses and one family had a lovely tree house in their garden. I know it’s very early to be writing postcards but on the canals it’s difficult to know when you’ll find a postbox. So pleased to have completed that task. Did one of my few little job in the afternoon – I peeled the potatoes.
After tea Sue and the others came back from a walk and saw foxholes and a fox on the towpath. No-one managed a photo.
Another lovely day.
