Today's the day ....................... to count your chickens

This may look like a boring picture of blossom - but it's a very exciting sight to us!

It's a long time since we've seen quite as much blossom on the two damson trees that we have in our garden - and if they turn into fruit, we're really going to have a bumper crop. However - there's many a slip twixt cup and lip as they say - and there's plenty of things that could go wrong in the meantime.

The damson harvest is a notoriously fickle thing. Some years, there are no damsons to be found at all - and others, you are desperately trying to find ways of using them up because you have so many.

One thing that has certainly worked out right this year though is that the annual Lyth Valley Damson Day is on Saturday. So there will be plenty of blossom in all the orchards there for all the visitors to see .........................
