A Majestic House
Chantler's April 2014 Shakespeare Challenge - Majestic
Today my son and I went on a rooftop tour of Temple Newsam House. This had been the home of the Darnley family, who, in the 1500s were close to both the English and Scottish thrones. Lord Darnley, cousin to Queen Elizabeth, married Mary, Queen of Scots, before various scandals culminated in his suspicious demise in the snow one night.
This building is as close to Shakespearean majesty as you can probably get, and it is an amazing place, well worth a visit. You can just see the second tour on the edge of the roof in the photo - where we had been stood an hour earlier.
